Organic Mitoyo Eggplant Seeds - 30 Count, GMO-Free, Grows Great in every USDA Zone Solanum melongena

Description: Large fruits are oval to teardrop - shaped and nearly black. Flesh is very tender and sweet, it is even highly recommended for use without cooking! Fruits are also excellent baked or roasted, and are often used in pickling as well in their native Japan, were the variety was originally collected at a local market. Traditionally grown in the Mitoyo and Kanonji areas. One of the best tasting eggplants we have ever tried.

Days to Maturity: 85 days. Sowing: In most regions of the U.S. and Canada, start eggplant seeds indoors about 6 to 8 weeks before the date you will be transplanting the seedlings outdoors. Direct seeding in the garden is recommended after you are absolutely certain that the last frost has passed. Seedlings are sensitive to transplant shock so it's best to start eggplant seeds in individual 2 to 4-inch diameter containers instead of trays or flats. Thoroughly moisten, seed - starting mix then fill containers to within 1/2 inch of the top. Put 2 to 3 seeds in each small pot and cover with 0.25 inch of seed-starting mix. Soil: Eggplants prefer a rich, fertile soil with plenty of organic matter. Add well-rotted compost or manure before planting. If needed, work in a balanced, time-released fertilizer when preparing the soil. Soil pH: 5.5 to 6.0, eggplant does not do well in soil pH outside of this range, amend soil to correct if needed.
