Description: Small, bushy Shrub. Ideal for coastal planting, tolerates salt spray. Edible seeds. Usage: Great for a large garden planting or revegetation, roadside planting or parkland planting. Features: Flower display, fast growing and Zig-Zag pattern of stems. USDA Zones: 5a-11. Height: Up to 64 inches Light: Dappled shade, part or full sun. Locations: From semi-wet, but well drained sites to dry rocky sites. Care Level: For low maintenance, cold area gardens. Propagation: Propagation is usually carried out from seed. Native Range: The Coastal Wattle occurs in heath and open forest on coastal headlands and adjacent alluvial flats. It is widespread in coastal districts of New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia. Soil Type: Moist well drained or dry soils. Wildlife Benefits: Attracts seed-eating birds. Physical Characteristics: An evergreen shrub. . It is in leaf all year, in flower from February to May. The flowers are hermaphrodite (have both male and female organs). It can fix Nitrogen. We rate it 2 out of 5 for usefulness. The plant prefers light (sandy), medium (loamy) and heavy (clay) soils, requires well-drained soil and can grow in nutritionally poor soil. The plant prefers acid, neutral and basic (alkaline) soils.
